Shimmy Beach Club recently launched their new winter menu and I had the wonderful opportunity to try all the new delicious items they’ve added to their menu.
The welcoming indoor setting combines the comforts of winter with floor to ceiling ocean views. Using only the freshest locally sourced seasonal produce, Chef Adrian Cook balances elegance with indulgence for a comfort food-friendly cuisine (perfect for winter days).
Shimmy’s culinary journey starts with a wide selection of starters to whet the appetite, including the rich Venison and Leak Ragout in a bouchee with red wine and poached pears and a red wine reduction. The Ratatouille Tartlet with rocket, balsamic reduction, pesto and parmesan shaving offers a flavoursome vegetarian option.
For mains, Shimmy Beach is serving up seasonal staples like Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie and Red Wine Braised Lamb Shank, the perfect remedy for cold winter nights. The Chef’s succulent Sesame encrusted Norwegian Salmon with stir-fried veg invokes the heart-warming aromatics of Asian cuisine, or try the Biltong Encrusted Ostrich Fillet, packed with rich flavours and accompanied by a bed of roast beetroot and hummus puree, for a wholesome, hearty dish.
Draw the winter cheat card and delve in their decadent deserts. Spoil yourself with a Chai Matcha Crème Brulee topped with peanut brittle, red wine poached pears and a dousing of red wine reduction; Smoked Dark Chocolate Fondant with a dollop of Cognac ice cream; Pecan nut and Apricot bread and butter toasted sandwich; or try the trio of Milktart, Cape Brandy and Chocloate Fondant Spring rolls, each with their own delectable dipping sauce.
For the milder winter days, grab a platter of Shimmy’s generously portioned fresh cut sushi; sensational dim sum, or gourmet wood fired pizzas. Shimmy Beach Club offers carb-free pizza bases and carb-free sushi for a guilt-free treat.
Situated in the V&A Waterfront, Shimmy Beach Club is Cape Town’s luxury beachfront cuisine and entertainment destination. The kitchen is open Tuesday to Sunday 11am – 11pm. For table bookings, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 021 200 7778.
